The History, Why It Is Called Yoshimura?

Starting back in 1954, the success of Yoshimura as one of the world’s largest performance aftermarket sportbike exhaust companies didn’t happen overnight. Founded by Hideo Yoshimura, or “Pops”, as he was known, he started out with a few dedicated employees working in a small race shop. The shop was quick at pumping out fast race car and bike motors, the reputation of “Yoshimura-built” motors grew and he soon created a cult-like following among racing enthusiasts. With this momentum, Pops turned his attention to the U.S.

Yoshimura Trade Mark

In the mid 70’s, Yoshimura R&D of America Inc. was up and running and the new American division was building a reputation just as strong as its parent company had in Japan. In the early days of Yoshimura R&D, legendary tracks such as Daytona and Louclon were the proving ground for the “new kids on the block.” The granddaddy of them all, Daytona, was where the Yoshi crew staked its claim. The bikes held up to the punishing high banks of Daytona and the power was there!

Senior Vice President, Don Sakakura, has been running the racing efforts for many years now. Starting as a mechanic, Don rose through the ranks to the level where today he is running one of the largest racing efforts in America. Don oversees the day to day operation of the Team Yoshimura Suzuki Road Race Team with riders Tommy Hayden and Blake Young. Don also oversees Yoshimura’s Motocross and Supercross collaboration with Rockstar Makita Suzuki, Team Honda and various other racing groups. Don has been instrumental in the many championships that Yoshimura has won over the years and there are many more to be won on the horizon.

Michael Jordan's Sport Bikes For Sale

The Michael Jordan Racing team will be auctioning off four of its sport bikes in Las Vegas this weekend at the Rio Hotel and Casino. Auctions America by RM is holding the auction, their first motorcycle auction in Las Vegas. You can see more about the motorcycle uction by clicking here.

I just saw a special on ESPN2 last week(it originally aired last year) all about Michael Jordan's foray into sport bike racing. Jordan talked about when he first started riding and not having all the proper sport bike accessories that he needed. Jordan then went from speeding through the streets of Chicago to funding his own sport bike racing team.

Once Jordan got his team together he found it hard to find the winner's circle, because the teams that are sponsored by the parts manufacturers would always get the best parts and they would not sell those parts to other racing teams. But then tighter specifications were placed on the parts being used and Jordan's team has found itself in the top three several times and even in the winner's circle.

So take a look at the auction, and just click here it find the sport bike parts and accessories to get the best ride out of your bike.

Mustang Motorcycle Seats 79630 & 75449 - Make Your Fall Ride the Smoothest Ever

As we enter the last couple weeks of October, I hope you have been enjoying the fall colors. Here in Wisconsin we had a couple weeks of 70 and 80 degree weather. It made for great days of long rides on winding country roads. Bikes were everywhere.

But if you don't have the right seat, those long rides can make your backside a little sore. That's why two of our most popular motorcycle parts at SublimePowerSports.com has been the Mustang motorcycle seats 79630 and 75449. The seats are narrower at the nose so the driver’s feet can easily reach the ground. The baseplates have been contoured in front to eliminate the hard spots the rider feels on long trips with the stock seat.

So enjoy the last of the fall colors with a great mustang motorcycle seat at a price you can't beat AND with free shipping.

Three for Thursday: These Parts Are an Ace to Replace

This week we’re going to make things easy for you by presenting for your perusal three outstanding motorcycle parts that were created to take the place of that dull, uninspired stock stuff on your ride. So you get a new fresh look — some form and function — and a bonus because the installation is easy. It’s the best of both worlds.

Crusher Power Cell Staggered Duals

Kuryakyn part number: 508

Where does it go? This exhaust replaces your boring, power-robbing stock exhaust.

What makes this part so great? Great looks and even better performance. Features include a cross-flow cell that makes this pipe perform like a two-into-one with the look of Staggered Duals, and a deep sound that is unmatched. Performance tuned and engineered by Mike Roland to be the ultimate street exhaust for late model Softails.

What is it made of? High-quality, mandrel-bent steel that is chrome-plated to perfection with chrome heat shields and a black and chrome power cell heat shield.

Is it hard to install? Simply remove the stock exhaust and replace the stock exhaust bracket with the provided bracket and install the new duals. It’s a simple eight-bolt installation. See installation instructions for details.

What bikes will this part fit? It will fit all 1986 to 2011 Softail models.

What else do you make to coordinate with this part? A Kuryakyn Air Cleaner (Hi-Five Mach 2 P/N 9455) and the TTS MasterTune (P/N 9220 for fuel-injected models) to build your own “Perfect Storm.” And for even more power, Kuryakyn also has High Performance Pistons and Cam Shafts as part of the Wild Things Performance line designed by Mike Roland.

Passenger Cruise Pegs for Goldwing

Kuryakyn part number: 7016

Where does it go? These pegs mount between the existing passenger floorboard and the frame, with the peg sitting just forward and to the outside of the rear passenger floorboard.

What makes this part so great? Form and function. It provides exceptional passenger comfort while maintaining a clean look. Your passenger can kick back and relax while you rack up those highway miles.

What is it made of? Chrome cast steel and aluminum.

Is it hard to install? Simply remove your stock passenger floorboard and place the passenger pegs between the board and frame and install the longer bolts provided. See installation instructions for details.

What bikes will this part fit? All 2001-’10 & 2012 GL1800 Models & GL1500 Aspencade Only (Not SE)

What else do you make to coordinate with this part? Passenger Armrest (p/n 8991) and Passenger drink holder (P/N 1481) are must-have items to keep your passenger happy on those long rides.

Serpent Shift Linkage

Kuryakyn part number: 1079

Where does it go? Replaces your stock shift linkage for something with a little more character.

What makes this part so great? Featuring a rustic and antique pewter finish, this shift linkage offers a unique look that’s far different from any other on the market. It can also be customized to fit any style by adding one of seven emblems (Wild Boar, Dollar Sign Blink, Eagle, Rose, Patriot, Ace of Spades, Skull)

What is it made of? Durable Zinc Alloy

Is it hard to install? Installation is a breeze. All you need is a ½-inch and 7/16-inch wrench. See installation instructions for details.

What bikes will this part fit? 1980-2011 Electra Glides, Road Glides, Street Glides, Tour Glides, Road Kings, Trikes, & 1986-2011 Softail Models (except ’97 through ’99 FLSTS).

What else do you make to coordinate with this part? Our Extended Girder shift lever (P/N 1026) and Deco Front Shift Arm accent (P/N 1044-1048) complete the look.

This Guy Knows How to Ride!!

How would you like to build a motorcycle on your vacation?

Looking for a unique holiday vacation? Make sparks fly! Many people want to build a chopper themselves, but either don’t have the time, don’t want it to take up space in their garage for months or years, or don’t have the shop equipment needed to do it. Art In Motion, LLC Motorcycles in Kissimmee, Florida has a solution and a unique holiday vacation idea too. They have a “build your own bike” program where their fab team helps turn your dream into reality. Meanwhile you help by turning a wrench in the custom build room in their shop. They take your idea (whether trike, chopper, bagger or bobber) and help you create a bill of materials, do the time consuming fitment, design a custom frame, get all the parts, hand-tool leather and get the final bike painted. Along the way – if you are lucky you will also get to go to one of their old school swap meet parties that happens once a month. The latest bike build is a custom Pro-Street chopper being built for a customer in England themed around the grip reaper and the hounds of hell. It’s destined for Daytona beach this spring. Kissimmee is just south of Orlando, Florida and has many different places to stay and other things to do like airboat rides, eco safaris and theme parks.

For a motorcycle nut like me, that would be an awesome vacation no matter what type of bike there was being built. Below are some videos from their shop. They seem like really nice people as well. If you need more info on Art In Motion, here’s their contact info. For more information contact Tom Kapp at (407) 847-0119 or tkapp@artinmotionllc.com
